A guide to garage door installation
When it comes to installing a garage
door, you need to take professional help who have profound knowledge and
completely dedicated into the process. The garage door consists of very
sensitive parts. If this part is damaged, then you may end up purchasing a new
garage door. However, if you own a basic and simple garage door, you can
install on your own by reading the instruction manual carefully, but in case if
you’re not sure about the installation, you need to take a professional help.
Here are some tips that may help premature to install the door successfully.
Gather your tools: Installing a door
doesn't require any special tools. The only thing you require is a socket
wrench, sockets, hammer, screw drivers, tape measure and C-Clamps.
Remove the springs: This step only
applies when the door is manufactured with extension springs, which are mounted
over the horizontal tracks on both sides. If the door is made out of torsion
springs, you need to remove the spring with the help of professional. It is not
recommended trying yourself to remove torsion springs as it is the most
sensitive part and if you not remove properly, you may end up hurting yourself
or buying a new door.
Remove the existing track: It is
often possible to use the existing tracks, which you can alter while installing
a new door. However, to utilize the existing track, you need to consider few
factors. Check whether your new door has warranty even if it is not installed
to a new track. The second point is some doors works better only when it is
installed in specific track. In a case, if you want to use the existing track,
you should make sure that the new door has exactly the same width and the
roller installed with the door fits perfectly.
